Answers to the most common car seat questions from our certified safety experts.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping children rear-facing as long as possible — until they reach the maximum weight or height limit of their rear-facing seat. Most convertible seats allow rear-facing up to 40–50 lbs, which means many children can stay rear-facing until age 3–4. Rear-facing is significantly safer because it distributes crash forces across the entire back, head, and neck rather than concentrating them on the harness straps.
